Overview of Fasting - Ps Thomas

Welcome to Fast Feb! As we step into this new year, we take February as a time to be intentional about fasting and seeking God together. ✨ Why Do We Fast? Fasting is a humbling of self—a way to deny the flesh and draw closer to the Lord. Throughout the Bible, fasting is linked to seeking God’s presence, His provision, and His power. We’ll explore both the Jewish and New Testament perspectives on fasting, its significance in Jesus’ ministry, and how it applies to us today. 📖 Biblical Foundations of Fasting Old Testament: The Day of Atonement, Moses' 40-day fast, and Elijah’s journey to Horeb. New Testament: Jesus' 40-day fast, His teaching on fasting in Matthew 6, and why we now fast in celebration of Christ’s victory rather than mourning. Purpose of Fasting: To seek God’s provision, direction, and breakthrough in our lives and church. 🙏 Practical Application If you’ve never fasted before, we encourage you to start small—maybe one meal a week, gradually building up. For those who cannot fast from food due to health reasons, sacrificing distractions like social media can still be an act of humility before God. 🔥 What Are We Believing For in 2025? This year, we’re seeking God’s provision—not just financially for our church, but for every person in our community struggling with the cost of living crisis. We believe God is calling us to live above the cost, trust in His provision, and walk in radical generosity. 🙌 Join Us in Fasting & Prayer! Let’s set aside this month to humble ourselves, seek God’s direction, and prepare for the year ahead. Are you in? Let us know in the comments how you’ll be participating in Fast Feb! 📌 Subscribe for more messages & updates! #Fasting #ChristianFasting #FastFeb #SpiritualDiscipline #PrayerAndFasting #Faith

Kingdom Maths: God's Great Plan For Increase

Join us for Kingdom Mathematics with Ps Thomas Wright at Cairns Family Church. In this sermon, Ps Thomas will use the analogy of mathematics to show how different people and approaches effect the church in God's plan to grow it. Key Points Covered: ➕ Addition: Each of us is called to add our unique gifts to God's kingdom, contributing to the growth of the church. ➗ Division: We need to recognise the enemy's tactics to divide and destroy the church, resist division and be unified in purpose. ➖ Subtraction: There will always be subtractors about us in our faith journey, sometimes us, and it's right and just to uphold unity and love. ✖️ Multiplication: God's ultimate plan for His people to multiply, discipling others and spreading His Word across all nations (Genesis 1:28; Matthew 28:19-20). Scriptures: 📖 1 PETER 4:10-11 ESV 📖 PSALM 139:13-18 NLT 📖 EPHESIANS 1:4 NLT 📖 GALATIANS 5:13-18 ESV 📖 JOHN 10:10 ESV 📖 JOHN 8:44b NLT 📖 PSALM 133:1,3 ESV 📖 1 CORINTHIANS 1:10 ESV 📖 TITUS 3:9-11 ESV 📖 ROMANS 16:17-20 ESV 📖 EPHESIANS 4:1-6 📖 JAMES 1:19-20 ESV 📖 PROVERBS 11:17 ESV 📖 GENESIS 1:28 ESV 📖 MATTHEW 28:19-20 ESV 📖 2 TIMOTHY 2:1-2 📖 PROVERBS 11:24 ESV 📖 LUKE 6:38 ESV Practical Takeaways: Add Your Part: Serve where you’re gifted, whether it’s speaking, encouraging, helping, or giving. By adding your unique gifts, you contribute to God’s great work. Resist Division: Commit to unity in the body of Christ. Avoiding gossip, controversy, and offense protects the church from division and strengthens our mission. Embrace Multiplication: Invest in others, mentor new believers, and practice radical generosity. God’s Kingdom grows when we pour out what we’ve received. Reflection Questions: How can I add my unique gifts to God's Kingdom this year? In what areas of my life do I need to foster unity instead of division? Who can I invest in or disciple, helping them grow in faith? #CairnsFamilyChurch #KingdomMaths #MultiplyForTheKingdom #FaithInAction #UnityInChrist #RadicalGenerosity
